Agreed. You could find someone on Rover for less, but most families don't want someone they haven't used before in their house while they're away to save $30-$40 bucks. It doesn't make sense. Also, what if new person fails to show up? The last family I did this for had two special needs dogs, who had to take medicine and I had to keep them calm for 30 min. after they ate., etc. So it is a lot more effort on part of family to find someone new who has availability to come several times per day and who they're comfortable letting in their house.

Agree with PP who said having someone drive or take metro three times per day for $15/hr doesn't make sense. Why would I give up a whole day for just a few hours of work?

If you really aren't sure, look at what dog walking or pet sitting companies charge for overnight sitting and charge something similar. They charge per walk and per overnight, with additional for things like medications.

Here’s the thing: you have to make yourself available and stay close to your employer’s house all day to get in the three walks. I honestly don’t know how much you would charge but it has to be more than just the time it takes for the walks.

How many days will you be doing it? How many dogs?
I don't believe the $90/day poster. They could hire people on Rover in the DC area for much cheaper. People in this area don't even pay $90/day to stay in their house and watch the dogs.

Neither. Put dog in a kennel.

I feel so sorry for dogs left all on their own while their family go away, with just 3 walks a day. Its lonely.

I would charge $15 a walk/visit.

I did this for a family I worked for in a LCOL area. I was paid around $90/day and they told me to help myself to whatever food I wanted. I also brought in their mail/packages.

My nanny family asked me to dog sit for them. What is a reasonable price to charge?
