So I wait until I have a sense of the job hours and duties and the family dynamic and then give a range based on those factors and say that we can negotiate within that range based on other benefits.

As the service provider, I get it. But as an employer I don’t. Do I love paying $30 an hour? Not really. But we do & id rather be upfront & potentially miss out on some great folks we possibly can’t afford- than hide the ball.

I hate when ppl post $15-$25 or $12-$25 knowing full well they want to pay $12 or $15. Care.crap needs to have families chose the exact amount they want to pay. The range is too broad for most families who are looking for cheap care.

I clearly posted $30 to $35, and I still got calls for $20. Such a waste of effort.

Because most families want to pay a little as possible so they wait until someone gives them their rate and then low ball them? Just my opinion. In addition, many families say they’re okay with my rate when I give it to them, and I never here anything back.

Ok- I am a former nanny & now currently employ a nanny.
Help me understand why childcare jobs don’t post a rate/range? Most families know what they are looking to pay, so why not be upfront? If a nanny is looking for $35 an hour- they’ll immediately know we are not the right family.
Why waste everyone’s time with things like ‘competitive pay’?
I’m sincerely asking. Am I missing something?
