+1. Please, Nannies, check your potential employers! You will be in a house alone with one of them at some point. You need to be proactive about protecting yourself.
You should really check anyone, not just nannies if you are going into a home, including for a playdate or to hang out or even a regular date.

Yes. Our nanny had been fingerprinted and extensively background checked for her last job (high profile family) and I still ran a quick driving and care.com background check.

I am a nanny who has had a background check when hired privately and I always get them when working through an agency. It’s not that costly, just do it.

My previous employers only called references. Never mentioned a background check although I’m absolutely fine with this. I had gotten live scanned at a previous job so maybe they didn’t think it was necessary

FTM here- how many of you did background checks on nannies? References are great just wondering if this is something we should do or if we’re being overly cautious?
