The best way is during your Skype call.

You need to ask non standard questions. Some APs practice very hard and you can tell they have a spiel ready when every question reverts back to their childcare experience or something else they've prepared. The non standard questions help you evaluate real comprehension and ability to communicate.

For example, what is the last book that you read and what did you like about it?

+1 love APC but my AP english level was a shock to me. Talk to potential AP asap and don't be afraid to move on.

Hi all,

I worked with Cultural Care for our first AP. I am hearing up for our second - and signed up for Au Pair Care - I'm learning it's web site. I see APC doesn't assess English like CC does. Other than interviewing, is there a good way to determine English skill level in APC? I just interviewed an AP with a wonderful profile who did great corresponding over email but had very limited conversational skills. As much as CCs matching process has been a pain, I do like it's language rating system and the ability to filter for it easily. Thanks to anyone who has suggestions!
