We finally rematched in month 8. AP finally improved in those last 3 weeks. We had 2 remediation meetings, so it wasn't a lack of a chance to improve. Too little, too late...

Sounds like our first AP. I literally could not wait for her to leave and we won't be in touch again. She flamed out of her 2nd year family so I know it wasn't just us!

Yup, I hear you OP. Our last AP was super entitled and thought she was too good for everybody (including other APs!). She's back in her country now and we have not remained in touch at all. I wish we had rematched too. She thought au pairing was beneath her....and just wanted a ticket to learn english

My AP does her job just fine, but we are a definite personality conflict that has only gotten worse over the year - especially the last 4 months or so. I can't wait for this month to be over. I find myself hiding in my own home or making excuses to do things with the kids out of the home after work.

If I had a crystal ball in month 2 or 3, I would have rematched. We just figured she was shy, learning the language, a little homesick, etc. Months later, it's like living with a moody, quiet teenager who hates any direction. Some people just don't click. We've had several good relationships with AP's so we know what to expect and know the difference.

Some families will tell you the rematch pool isn't always better. I know that is true, but... I also know it sucks to have someone in your home that is fine with the kids, but you genuinely dislike spending time with.
