He should teach Kindergarten. Tell him to go back to school now and he will be finished before you know it. No time like the present.

How are you vetting him?

That’s not to mean that they can’t do crafts. But men remember being boys, and they remember what they liked to do.

When you see a man with a baby you assume he's the dad and don't ask questions.
You might have seen a male nanny and didn't know it.

I know this from experience as well.

OP here.
When I asked him about agencies he says he tried them before and the one that took him seriously just wanted to place him with older boys or just as a driver. He wants to work with a baby and stay until they out grow him.
White House nannies bluntly told him that people don't want male nannies.

Nice to hear that WHN finally has something truthful to say.

Some families will hire male nannies and not practice gender discrimination. As long as your friend is willing to spend the time to find those families, myob!

I agree with you that he should change careers. There are so many fields where you can work with infants that doesn't involve nannying. I can think of the healthcare field as an example where caring males are really needed now and very valued.

Not too many families want to hire a male nanny for a baby let alone young children... teenager's/tweens maybe but most families just aren't open to it.

Has he tried agencies from other states? I’ve seen agency ads online for out of state families. Maybe if he calls agencies here in LA? I know this might be a stretch but it’s the only advice I can think of

Why do you need to give him advice? He's an adult with a career. Why not instead just give him lunch on you once a week or so?

I have a friend who is a male nanny.
I have always encouraged him since we taught preschool together 15 years ago.
He will be between jobs soon because his current fammily of 6 years moving out of state.
It always takes him linger to find a job. He has had an ad posted here and the usual places and has only had one or two responses.
What advice should I give him?
