My going rate for just one child is $30/hr. It’s doesn’t matter if you’re home the whole time or if you live next to a bus stop or metro.

If you want a HS kid without a car who needs constant supervision, you can definitely go a lot cheaper.

Going rate is what cheap ppl use to justify being cheap. Op found someone, but was appalled that they wanted actual compensation. $20/hr for a 20 hour position where the mom is hovering, hormonal and neurotic isn’t anyone’s dream position. It’s a filler position or crossover position until their actual job begins. This means you have to pay handsomely if you want to keep someone longer than a month who is reliable. This is also a super luxury position. Meaning this is a position wealthy families offer nannies bc they can pay them well even if it’s just 20 hrs a week. Look for a college student and hope for the best.

Sure. There is a floor, though, for what any responsible, reliable person is going to accept, no matter if that's in a nanny in a share or as a "mother's helper" (which is just a nanny with the mother in her way if you think about it).

I understand that from your perspective, it's a very easy job, but it's still a job, and you're going to have to pay the rate competitive with other jobs, or it doesn't make sense for someone to take.

In addition to this, are you flexible with schedule (to work around a young high schoolers schedule) or do you need a professional with own transportation who will consistently show up as scheduled?

What's the going rate for a mother's helper for infant twins. Only requirement is to help with them (literally hold them) if I am not able to get to both of them at the same time. No other requirements.
