If there has been job creep, ask for more now or stop doing the extra work and start looking for a new job.

I agree that you should finish one year contract. However, I don't think it's wrong to bring it up before the year is up so that the other family will have time to search for a new nanny and you will have time to search for higher paying job.

Most good nannies are definitely underpaid.

If they don't want to pay more, I'd definitely get a new job. No big deal. They don't own you.

Are the job duties much different than outlined in the interviews and contract? That is the only way you can reasonably negotiate before the one year mark.

Why should good childcare be cheap? Good childcare is an investment in the future success of your children. Poor quality care can easily ruin everything for you. And for your children. Think about it.

Agree with the above posters.

Also, why do you feel underpaid? What is your current salary? How many hours? Are you getting overtime?

You agreed to this. If you weren't satisfied with the salary you shouldn't have agreed to it. Now you have to wait until it's been a year and then ask for a raise.

Finish the year, then ask. Don’t sign a contract when you don’t agree with the salary.

Of course finish your contract. It would be wrong to ask for more money now.

Hi I'm a nanny for two beautiful girls in a nanny share. I love my charges and like the families but feel as though I'm being underpaid. What would be a good way to bring up an increase in salary? Or would it be best to finish the year contract out then ask for more money then?
