Gift cards show some thought as the giver has to put effort into buying however this is a work situation so either cash or a gift card or present is fine.

$200 is a bit extreme in less employers are wealthy. $50 is more appropriate.

No difference between a $200 Visa gift card and $200 cash. How are gift cards cheap?

Cash and/or a day off. And a card is nice, too.

I'd skip the giftcard as well, cash is better. And the note is really thoughtful

Could you give her the afternoon off on Friday? Thanks for going above and beyond.

WOW. I love getting cards from kids and a gift card is nice and long as your employer knows where you would like to spend it.

This. As a nanny, the note would mean the most to me.

A lot of puke/diarrhea was involved, so our poor nanny had to deal with a lot of bodily fluids. Can you suggest a gift that would be nice to give our nanny to thank her for helping us today? We've given her Amazon/Target cards before and were trying to think of something more personal (though if you are a nanny and prefer gift cards, feel free to say so). Thanks in advance.

Kind of you to think this way, OP.

I personally love amazon gift cards but, if you know your nanny well, you could get her a new bag or sweater (joking that the new one doesn’t smell like poop or puke).

I could not disagree more. As a nanny, I would greatly appreciate a gift card and a note/drawing from my charge.

You need to calm down, PP.

I would go with a gift card because she might need to replace her clothes. And line up backup care in case it is contagious! And write her a nice note telling her how much it meant to you to know that your DD was safe and loves through the whole ordeal.
