We let her use all of her annual and sick leave, paid her FT for 3 weeks and half time for another 3 beyond that (and held her job).

thanks, everyone! It is a long-standing relationship so we will likely go with one month and then re-evaluate. we have other backup options for now that are manageable.

^ Meant to add I would also let her use up all her remaining PTO for the year (including “our choice” vacation), assuming she has been with you for >1 year.

I’d probably offer up to the amount of her next bonus plus whatever parting bonus we would give her if she resigned / we let her go on good terms (like moving or kids no longer needing nanny care), and assuming she comes back healthy, give smaller (but not zero) bonuses/gifts for a bit. For us that’d be about 3 weeks right now, but that depends on your situation.

I would do 3 weeks. We usually do that for a bonusnin winter so it's budgeted.

We’d cover two paychecks (a month) since she has been with us a long time.

Most people cannot afford to pay that salary beyond vacation time if they have to pay someone else too.

Depends on her relationship with your child.
How long have they been together?

how long would you cover full salary for a nanny after a health event, one month? two? shorter? they should recover fully but might take time.
