There are no extra fees associated with rematch. We did it recently. If you chose someone from outside the country, you will end up paying more, but that is because they are coming for 12 months and not for the X months you have left with your rematch au pair.

Ok. That was my understanding but got confused when PP mentioned rematch fees.

Go for it but be sure there is AMPLE documentation of au pair being the problem, especially if you are with CCAP.

Yes, we recently rematched with a little less than 5 months to go. It was stressful and not easy to find a good person, but we did it and are happy we did. We did not need someone infant qualified but had some friends in that situation and it did take them several weeks so you may need a solid backup childcare plan in place. Perhaps your current AP is just done and wants to go home? If so, she may be willing to wait for you to find a rematch, extension AP or even out of country AP and leave after you have found someone new.

5 months is a long time when it comes to APs. You need more than a warm body, esp with an infant. Sounds like you know what you need to do.

We rematched with 6 months left. My only regret is not doing it sooner, but you can't go back in time.

You know there are plenty of situations where rematch occurs at any interval because you will see APs with varying time lengths left on their visas, including just a couple of months.

Have you ever rematched in the last few months rather than stick it out?

AP has 5 months left and has already checked out. Lets things slide more. Mostly annoying things like not putting away toys outside (which means there's a chance we could run them over with the car that doesn't have a backup cam) or staring off bored when the kids play rather than interacting as much with them.

We have had a few more serious safety and performance issues (one of our kids is an infant), so we have technically had a mediation meeting several weeks ago and LCC will let us go straight into rematch if we want.

We've pretty much decided to go into rematch when we find another AP because our current AP is the equivalent of a warm body "watching" the kids.
