If I were a nanny I would want your credit record and your criminal record. New parents could use references from their current bosses as well as bosses going 10 years back. If you haven't been working for ten years then you probably cannot afford a nanny.

The Nanny is working in a private home w/people she herself has just met.
I totally get why she could be concerned about her own personal safety, especially in the beginning.
Any family who would refuse to submit to a background check would be a huge red flag that something is off.
