I had the same exact situation with our past nanny and our six month old boy. We fired her and found a new one. It was the best decision ever. I actually considered keeping her after she did it. I’m so glad i didn’t. Let her go.

Definitely fire her. If she had keys to your home, have her hand over the keys as you terminate her. She is neglecting your infant and lying about it.

You need to fire her, OP. She can't care for your baby for minute or hour, let alone a day.

Not at all acceptable and certainly not common (though I can think of one nanny I know that I wouldn’t put something like this past them, which is so sad). Anyway, fire her immediately. We all have hard days sometimes and may check out a LITTLE, but that is way over the line!!!

Even if you were on the fence about leaving him in the crib for two hours, she lied about it when you asked. I'd fire her.

FWIW, our daycare center was not allowed to leave a baby in the crib after he woke up.

Terrible for that baby who needs to be working on crawling and learning to walk in his waking hours. And to lie about it...no way I would continue to employ her.

Very, very untypical and wrong. She should have called you if she was feeling unwell. A reason to let her go.

Hello! We have a nanny how cares for our 9 month old. We recently activated our baby monitor on our phone. We realized this week that the nanny left our baby in the crib for 2 hours after he woke up, she gave him a bottle and then walked away. She watched the monitor but never came back to get him out of the crib after we woke up. He then fell back asleep and she didn't get him until 1 pm. We are torn if this is a one time thing and address expectations or look for alternative care. When we asked her why, she initially lied and said it was not that long and then said it was that she was not feeling well. Are we being over reactive parents? is this typical for nannies? daycare?
