I don’t know any nanny who wants to clean the parents’ crap.

I will add this:

4. Parents who want full-time availability by adding housekeeping, and the transition from strictly nanny to nanny/housekeeper is frequently not something that infant/toddler nannies want to do once the child is in full day school.

I also think people don’t know if they need nanny that far away. Think about it, there are only so many people who will need a new nanny in August:

1. New parents. Probably due in May or June. They are likely still debating many new childcare options, and preparing for the baby. They will start in July, after baby is born.

2. People moving into the area. They are still searching for new homes.

3. People whose nanny will quit in August. Even if the nanny decides that, she hasn’t told he employers. There is a small percentage of “nanny is pregnant” in this population, but even those nannies likely haven’t discussed their plans.

Your potential employers will also contain a pool of people who will have a second child and opt for nanny instead of day care, people who will get new jobs, people who will move, who will fire their nanny, whose nanny will quit, etc. none of those know that they will need a new nanny in August yet!

So even if parents are planners, population that would be searching now is very small

Because their nanny leaves and they don't have more than a month's notice. Because they don't get responses for positions that far out. Nannies who are currently employed may not know they will be available months in advance. Because they don't know for sure when they will return to work months in advance.

I think most parents will start to post around May/June for childcare in August. The thing about posting super early is that you may find someone great but if that candidate finds another job offering the same hours/ benefits or something better, and it’s starting sooner they will take that position and you’re left searching again.

I also prefer parents who are able to plan ahead.

The family I work for is moving across the country and I need a new position starting in Aug.

Most of the jobs that I've seen posted here and elsewhere need someone next month or sooner.

Do people plan ahead?
I don't want to be a month away from being unemployed and not have a job to go to.

Anyway....

If you need a nanny in Aug please post earlier than later.
