Do you pay based on an hourly rate? Or is a weekly rate more common?

$20/hour

I would base it on an hourly rate and think you could find someone for $15-$18 an hour. You could pay weekly though and I would guarantee the hours. So 40 hours would be $600. I would pay this even if one week you don't need her on a certain day or you come home early sometimes.

This will be her 4th year sitting for us. Its only PT. My kid is really easy, i dont require driving, laundry, dinner ir cleaning up or anything. She lives in our neighborbood so no commute time. I dont need someone with a degree in early education to make slime with my kid or play uno.

How old is your kid?

6 now. She was 4 ( almost 5) when this started.

too many variables. How many kids? How many hours per day? How many days per week? Driving required? On the books or under the table?

I would guess a college kid might be $15-20.

OP here. Please revise -- I'm looking for a ballpark "Average" rate.

(Just saw the 5 page post on "going rate BS"-- my bad -- didn't know there was a difference.)

Any input from this forum on the going weekly rate for a "summer" nanny? (usually a college student as opposed to a professional nanny).
