Not everyone works for feds and have the day off. If you want paid, you'd need to work at our house as if we don't work, we don't get paid.

My employer opted to Uber into work today. I’m a live-in, so you was fine. I told the part-time person to stay home. My concern is other drivers, not my ability to handle conditions.

What if the Uber has an accident? Roads we're in terrible condition.

OP here and I don't think it's a power trip for my employers as much as total unawareness of the outside world. One of my employers did go to work today (they drove to Metro very early in the morning before it was real bad) and the other stayed home waiting for me. I felt very guilty calling out but concerned for my own safety because no one else is really thinking about it.

It's a power trip for them. THEY don't have to go in to work because it's too dangerous but they make you show up to work or put up a hissy fit if you don't make it.

That's cool and all but the roads are unsafe for all cars including Uber. How will your nanny get home?

OP here tried going in but roads were terrible so I turned around and went home. Employers were understanding but not thrilled. FWIW I never call in sick, I am never late and have been to work in all past snow events this winter.

Not going to work today. My neighborhood is already covered and it’s suppose to be icy. No one should be on the roads.
