I would make much more for OT hours and therefore would not babysit off the books. Some employers have high profile careers and cannot risk illegal activity, no matter how small you personally view it. Your perspective is not universal.

So sorry, don't mind that person. I have been in three different nanny share. $20 is great.

You ask her what she charges. If you pay her $25/hr during day then you pay $25/night plus OT
If you can't afford this, then you stay home Stop being a cheapskate.

Two things here:

• For just some side, occasional babysitting it is no big deal to pay in ca$h since she will be just a sitter.
And a flat fee for overnight would work ONLY if your child will sleep through the night allowing your Nanny to as well.

*Note:
Some young children have a hard time at night when the parents are not in the home.
So if child wakes up often, crying out for his parents...
Then I would go ahead & pay regular hourly since the sitter will not be able to sleep at all.

• And that line about Hoping a child chokes is the main reason I would NEVER hire a Nanny from this site.
You never know who is really missing a few screws.

Chris Watts, I didn’t realize you went on DCUM in prison.
Wisconsin should ban you from all internet while in their care.

I feel sorry for people who are so unhappy that they wish death on children. I truly hope you find peace and happiness in your life.

OP, I would iffer $20/hr for nanny’s awake time, generally 10pm is fine, then offer an overnight fee of $100+/-. But you should know that it is illegal to pay your employee off the books; I don’t think it will be an issue, but know that before you decide. Also, if she is already at 40 hours that week, this is overtime and should be compensated as such. This may be a good time to add a single child rate to the contract.

We have never asked our nanny to babysit just our kid outside of regular hours, but she recently indicated that she would be interested. We normally pay our sitters $20 an hour, and would offer the same to our nanny. Any issue with that? Also, we have a wedding later this year and would like to ask our nanny to babysit for our kid overnight. I assume we would pay the same hourly rate as normal babysitting, but we've never done an overnight before. Any differences in pay?

Why are you going to low-ball your nanny! $20.00 an hour is DAY-TIME HOURS and isn't even competitive. Shame on you for paying so LITTLE! I hope your son chokes.

Well we know when you die you’ll be looking UP at the world. What an asshole!

Nanny here and $20 an hour is okay for an overnight babysitting gig. My share families pay the same and for overnight I just ask them to throw in a pizza and some wings!

I too think you are fine in offering $20 per hour. Your nanny might even be fine offering a flat fee for the overnight hours. Just ask her what she thinks is fair.

$20 an hour is fine for one kid. Do it in cash so it doesnt get taxed or confused with nanny share income.

Jesus! I hope you are not a nanny. Are you literally wishing death on an infant because the mother is asking a reasonable question about what to pay her nanny? My goodness, I feel sorry for any kids around you.
