They may give you a credit, complain up the chain. Their accounting department is a complete shitshow. Go to the placement coordinator. When an au pair goes home of their own volition, they can withhold their deposit and not give them a credit back.

How do they handle the credit for the class we paid for for the au pair who is going home?
'

Unfortunately, you will have to pay it again for the new AP. AS far as I know, no credits there.

Well, I am not doing that. I will pay for the new au pair class - but I will deduct that from the agency's extended payment "finance" charges. It's not my fault the au pair decided she wanted to go home.

If you get a new au pair, you will have to pay for their education up to $500, minus any education taken at another family's house (if rematch). If new OOC, you have to pay another $500. Tough shit on you. Unfair to new au pair for previous au pair's misdeeds.

If you are with APIA, you get "credit" for education but it's against the rematching au pair not against future au pairs. Ask your LCC about the calculation SS.

With APIA, but rematching OOC. I will not pay finance charges, if they do not issue credit for education. It’s not my fault - and I’m not eating it for them. They can keep the au pairs deposit, and pass thru to me.

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT~!!!

What kind of class are you talking about? the AP training that they all take or some optional class?

OP, talk to your LCC and if she is not helpful ask to talk to someone in the main office and see what they can do. These things are often situation specific. I was an LLC and my agency would do what they good for nice families in bad situations - as well as nice APs in bad situations.

Not sure how this works and this might vary from agencies to agencies. What I was explained was that your credit will cover some months and you will pay the difference. For example if you had your AP for 3 month before rematch and you get an OOC AP and you paid in advance, you will only have to pay 3 months worth of fees and the transportation for the AP to come to you. At least that is my understanding with my agency.

If you rematch OOC, how do they handle credits from old au pair? It looks like we have to pay for transportation, excursion, and driving course for new au pair. Pay for her class - but what about the money for the last au pair? Does the agency credit that back? It’s not clear how this works and can’t get an answe from placement coordinator.
