Fifty dollars an hour if you want to try it at all. I would never accept less than that and agree that it sounds like a madhouse. You can't expect much from an adult trying to juggle that many babies/toddlers who can't do anything for themselves.

Paying more doesn't mean it's safe. It's not really about the rate. There's no way anyone can individually guarantee the safety of that many young children.

100/hr. Only a fool thinks this is feasible and only a bigger fool would accept this lunitic job.

I got $40 an hour over Christmas break from 2 families with 6 kids aged 5-11. No way I would do it for the ages posted here.

this sounds reasonable. I opened this thinking "all the time - are you crazy?". but as someone you know and trust to handle this, I think the set-up above makes sense. I'm assuming you'll be close enough to come back if it all goes south.

My family has 2 kids (2 and 4 months), the other family has 2 (1 and 3 months) and our other friends have 1 child she just turned 1. Our nanny suggested we schedule to go out around 12:30- 1 that way it's the kids nap time we will probably do 5 to 6 hours. What is a reasonable pay. Of course she can handle it because she keeps 4 kids full time just thought I would throw that in there. Any suggestions

Does your nanny care for four of THESE kids or your two and two others? If the 12mo is the old new child, you and your share partner pay normal rate, parent of the singleton asks the nanny if $x rate (should be approximately 2/3-3/4 of your rate) is fine. Just be aware that it isn’t legal for a multitude of reasons, the top one being that in an emergency, your nanny physically can’t get all the kids out of the house at the same time.

I accidentally hit submit instead of enter.

If the nanny doesn’t normally care for any of the three other kids, I’d suggest asking how much she wants to charge. She doesn’t know 3/5, so she wouldn’t have a clue how hard or easy it would be. And two young infants won’t necessarily cooperate and sleep very long/at all.

$40ish per hour? $15 for each of the two child families and $10 for the one child family? Agreed though that nobody will be getting top notch care with this setup. I would personally hire my own sitter.

Two one-year olds. One two-year old and then a 3 month and a 4 month old? Op said she already cares for 4 of them so adding another one will be okay. I’m sure she works more than 5-6 hours on a daily with the 4.

Seriously this does not sound like a safe setup.

Assuming you are in a share (2 families with 4 kids total) I would have the 3rd family pay what you pay now (the hourly rate) for 5-6 hours or pay at the OT rate for 5-6 hours. You can also ask nanny and just give her enough time to get back to you and not have to answer on the spot.
