It depends! How much control and say do you want you and your child to have over activities and the schedule.

If I can still sign my child up for any classes (music, baby gym, etc) and you will follow my child’s schedule and your kid is just along for the ride, then Inwoukd pay much closer to a normal nanny rate (maybe 20% less). This would mean through that you would have to sign your kid up for all of the same activities at your own expense I guess and get memberships for your kid at all museums, etc.

If we would have to figure out activities and memberships together and you would want to have your child home for some naps and other schedule reasons, then Inwoukd expect a nanny share rate.

30% to 40% below what it normally would be.

If you accept $12 per hour then they need to cook the child’s food. How old is the child? I wouldn’t take less than $18 in DC for cooking meals in addition to leading activities, potty training etc. If they want to act like it’s an share (which it’s not because they would be your employer if paying on the books) then, I would not be doing any housekeeping or cooking.

Then all you're going to get is a babysitter.

Personally, I would still pay higher than $15 for someone who brought their own child. I would just rate it accordingly as if the person wasn’t bringing their kid. This is just my opinion. I understand most people consider a nanny’s services devalued if their own kid tags along.

So, it’s one kid, they expect cooking, nanny has 15 years experience and is bilingual. Assuming I can actually afford a nanny, I would pay maybe $22-$24 to start. I would adjust based on location. Whatever is enough so that she is able to support herself.

We pay our nanny $20 for 1. For a nanny who brought her own kid I would not pay more than $12.

$15 if you are bringing your own child. In my opinion you having your own child is the same as me doing a share with another family.
