I am not the same poster as above regarding cancer? Ours had to leave because she violated our trust (without getting into details) agency said she had to go because of it. I do feel badly for her though.

We're also posting on care.com in case this takes longer than a week.

Thanks

Did you post on Au Pair Mom as well about the AuPair that has to go home suddenly because her dad has cancer? Your post is almost word for word with the details about her dad having cancer and you are upset that she left and not willing to fulfill her year long committment. I hope you’re not the same poster but if you are, Anaheim in you.

We have did a rematch in under 2 weeks...our AP matched first with new HF in the first week and was out by the weekend after the decision point. Our next AP arrived on Thursday. So we only had 4 days to ourselves.

We have 2 school aged kids under 12, matching is pretty easy for us in general.

I felt we lucked out when ours took 3 weeks to match and another 1.5 weeks until arrival. Other families at the time seemed to take about 4 weeks to match.

So, now I understand why the matching specialist seemed so “pushy” about looking at ooc immediately. It really wouldn’t have made much difference in arrival time and we probably would have done better starting fresh...

Any recommendations for agencies in DC? I’ve used White House Nannies in the past but the cost is very high for more than a few days of care.

While not ideal to keep rotating between people, and the cost will be sufficient, but you can use a temp nanny through an agency in the interim.

There really aren’t options besides rematch. Good luck.

We just completely unexpectedly found ourselves in the same situation (medical problem). So tough on the kids and us poor parents! Sending best wishes your way for a quick and successful rematch.

It's a function of the rematch pool (i,e., agency size) and sheer luck. If you are with CC, I happen to know an AP that is going into rematch right now.

Depends on the agency you are with. Ccap can be a week - anything else is all over the map. Depends on their rematch pool.
