Most ppl have no idea how to be a boss and this is just an example of that. It’s ridiculous how clueless and entitled some ppl can be.

I have MLK Day off paid per contract. We all agreed to this. They seemed to understand how holidays, guaranteed hours and PTO worked. These people are graduates of top universities with impressive degrees and respectable careers. How could they not?
They wanted me to work Sunday for about 6 hours and I agreed. Well, it seems like they think this is how holidays work. I’m off on the holiday with pay but just make up the day on a weekend. When I showed them our contract they seemed genuinely confused and said, “oh, we didn’t think of it like that....”
You didn’t think paid vacation/holidays meant what they’ve meant for decades and decades for most working people including you? Do you think they’re really that clueless or do you think they think I’m stupid enough to be manipulated into working a Sunday to cover my paid holiday?
I’ll work a Sunday but that’s all OT pay.

It’s unspoken, but in exchange I babysit Saturday nights for ‘free’ even though my Guaranteed hours aren’t supposed to roll over to the weekend. I’m always free to say no to Saturday nights but I try to be accommodating since they are keeping me on when I rarely ever work 40hrs.
Anonymous wrote:Are you working a shorter week and making up the hours on a Sunday? Or are they asking you to work on Sunday without paying you? It's not really clear from your post.
