I am not sure you can generalize from your experience. I know two HFs who went through two rematches back-to-back, and then matched with great OOC APs. So, it really depends. If OP has the luxury to wait, might as well expend the pool of potential candidates and consider all options.

I had this experience too. I think I rushed into a match.

I then took a break and used local care. Took my time, and then I pulled another OOC and she was good and stayed the year.

That's why I said to check MULTIPLE places, agencies and statuses (rematch/extension/OOC).

Sometimes another agency might have one that fits and you can always switch back later.

Sometimes the rematch pool is so thin, it takes 6 weeks to match and have them arrive. This is why the agency pushes you to consider ooc. Not everyone finds a rematch in 2 weeks and there will be more rematch host families than au pairs.

Thanks for posting this experience. I would hate to wait for an OOC and then end up in rematch again

what agency and what part of the country?

If you are in DC area work with your LCC who can help - our AP's friend rematched and the HF actually got a great AP from another agency....they will work to cut deals, especially if you have been a long time HF.

DC area is easy to rematch and you normally meet the APs in person if you want.

I think out of country takes at least 6 weeks or so. Check with your LCC to be sure. Things may have changed.

Definitely. Look at rematch, extension and OOC. Look at other agencies too.
