You are dead wrong. The best place to vent is to anonymous strangers and fellow nannies. Nothing could be more professional than seeking anonymous advice from other nannies and nanny employers around the country.

A nanny position is solitary and very personal. I am glad this forum exists to vent and ask advice.

Nonsense. First, venting is good for you. Second, venting to anonymous strangers with no identifying information is so much better than speaking to a loved one who actually will remember. Respondents give perspective, empathy and advice. Nothing unprofessional about it. The nanny can then address the issue with the employer with a calmer head.

I have strictly vented on this forum in the heat of an issue. If I were to actually tell or talk about the issue with a friend, it could get back to my employers. If I told my husband, he would tell me to quit or never forget the issue. I truly love my emplaned don’t want anyone IRL to dislike them or have personal information on them. Nannies are in a tough spot because we are in our employers’ homes and often deal with them when they are most vulnerable.

I would never vent or discuss my employers with other nannies in the neighborhood. This forum is all I have!!

I think this forum is a great resource for venting along w/receiving advice from MomBosses as well as other Nannies.

Many of us do not have friends in real life who would truly understand our issues unless they themselves are Nannies.

As long as you protect your Nanny Family’s identity properly, then I see no problem asking for input or just venting about certain issues on here.

Of course you aren’t wrong. I am an MB and this is why I use this site. I have learned a lot from the so-called Nanny Vents.

I am a nanny who has used this forum to vent about my employers and/or get advice on a situation. It has served me well in the past because DCUM doesn’t know me, my employer or my charge. To talk to family or friends involves them remembering my issue/problem/hurt while anonymously posting here has no memory. After I get it out here, and get feedback and advice (as well as calm down) I can address the situation with my employer calmly. It has worked for me.

Am I wrong to do this? Am I wrong to vent here?
