Definitely got lower insurance rates for 21+ and then 25+ drivers from our insurer (State Farm).

With most insurances, when they got their DL in the US matters more than age. My AP is 26 and I got a high rate with my insurance because she got her U.S. DL this year. A 21 y who had her U.S. DL when she was 18 will get your better rate (at least with most insurance agencies I talked to).

Same here. My insurance company gave me an astronomical quote, so we switched. It's still not cheap, but it's more reasonable.

My oldest AP has been 20, so we've always dealt with the very expensive insurance issue. At least with my insurance (USAA), the rate did not go down even when they did get a US driver's license.

We recently matched with a 19 year old (soon to be 20) AP who has only been in the country for a couple of months and hasn't yet gotten a U.S. driver's license. The car insurance company quoted me a very high rate, probably due to her age and the fact that she has no driving history here. Any advice on how to lower the rate? Switch companies? What they quoted me for the AP alone for six months is what we paid for three people (including an older AP for a whole year!)
