Too bad the OP never returned to clarify.

Perhaps had a change of heart.....

I feel like a state of the union could be in order. How are things going? any concerns or issues? This gives a forum when she might not otherwise bring it up but now you are asking for feedback. Like a survey at work. It could also be the time you talk about any changes - preschool , new baby, what a year from now lookslike

Nanny here. I would say it depends on the things that bug you. Could you please clarify ?

As a nanny myself, I let little things go if I'm happy about everything else. Sometimes it's just not worth it to upset someone about something they do and that they don't realize is bugging you. What is a given to you might not be for other people ...

I have had the same issue with dad coming home late. It irritates me because I am expecting to leave on time (just like I arrived on time). It’s not about the money either; I have worked for 10.5 hours and don’t forget about the time I left my house and the time it will take me to return home after a long days work. When you get home late, I get home late and now I’m rushing to eat so I’m not eating at 9:30 at night. So, I’ve voiced that I understand how things come up, however, I am not able to stay passed my shift hours. If you aren’t able to get home on time, I can help you find a backup who can relieve me on time and wait for you to get home. Or I will need to change my hours (to leave at least 30 minutes early as coming in later and staying later is not an option).

I know this isn’t what op was asking but I had to comment.

In life in general, anything you can let go, let go.

If you can easily let it go, then of course let it go. But if it is something that annoys you on a regular basis and it is fixable then you need to bring it up.

We have had the same brilliant and wonderful nanny since DD was born three-years-ago. I would be lost without her and DD would be devastated. She is in no danger of losing her job with us.

But I can tell we have some minor issues that could be addressed and I sense that she does too. Again, nothing that would make her quit - she is very straight foward about the big stuff.

For the little things - do you bring the up and open a dialogue for her to do the same or let it go?
