Paperwork is back and everything is good to go. I was extremely clear that our EIN was to run payroll for our nanny. The guy helping me said it was fine and that he has set these up for nannies and au pairs dozens of times. We had to submit our payroll paperwork and certify that we have workers comp insurance.

I was able to do SHOP for our nanny for 3 years. Then they stopped offering it in my county in 2018.

I just applied, and they accepted us. The employees were me (no insurance), and nanny (insurance), so I had a 50% enrollment rate. I was very happy with the SHOP insurance; it was ever-so-slightly more expensive than the equivalent tiers on the individual exchange, but the insurance itself was so much better. I was able to find affordable insurance with $0 deductible, low copays, and low yearly OOP cap.

Nope. I thought SHOP was for small businesses. I do know that you have to have 1 full time employee (not including yourself) to have worked for your company at least a year before you can qualify.

Has anyone looked into whether families can purchase insurance for a FT household employee such as a nanny through SHOP? Any experience on this? We're in Arlington.
