My bday is about a month before Christmas, so I usually don’t get a ton of gifts. My nf has a super nice dinner for me and we all just hung out. Definitely more valuable and fun than a traditional gift

They didn't even say happy birthday to me. And I am a really good nanny.

I always give cash and also try to a little something extra (movie passes, spa trip, amusement park tickets - things she wouldn't necessarily spend on her own but I know she would enjoy with a friend). Occasionally we'll do something bigger (like an international plane ticket for her to see family while we were on vacation).

Card and cash

I don’t eat cake (and my employer’s like to limit the kids’ intake), and I’m allergic to pollen. I have what I need and what I want.

We always give money and a card. The kids sign the card but they don't know about the money.

These are some excellent gift ideas listed.

I like the personal touch included in a few mentioned.

A good thought speaks volumes.

I recommend ca$h, a gift card, a homemade Happy Birthday card from the child(ren) and/or something you know your Nanny could USE, but probably cannot afford on her own.

I gave ours a AAA membership which covered her and her mom every year (they lived together). I did whichever one gave you the long tow, so about $145. They liked to take long driving trips, and often drove overnight, and it was something she'd never pay for on her own. Not very sexy, but that's the kind of thing I give people!

I'd also take everyone (her, kids, housekeeper, me, her mom if she wanted to come) out for lunch and get a card from the kids and a cake.

Christmas bonus was cash.

Cash and a drawing or hand made gift from child.

I always did a little present and cash. So a pair of cultured pearl earrings (I heard her mentioning her liking mine) and $100-200 cash etc. my nanny was older though.

I have always gotten cash for holiday/end of the year bonus and cards, flowers, a cake and a $200 dollar gift card to amazon for my birthday.

My previous employers gave me an amazing gift one year - to go to an optometrist and get new glasses with transitions lenses. The optometrist was really expensive and so were the glasses - like close to $1000. Still the most thoughtful gift ever since she noticed me switching between my regular glasses and prescription sun glasses all the time.

I’ve always received cash $100 from each family and a card signed by both families. In some cases, they’ve actually relieved me half day without given me notice. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with cash, a card, flowers and or a paid bday off (or half day). Of course not all but two out of the 4 would be appreciated I’m sure by any nanny.

Cash or gift card, $100 plus flowers and if you have time cake maybe a few balloons.

What have you given, or received, as a birthday gift? Our nanny is full time and I want to give her a birthday gift but unsure how much TJ spend or what is appropriate. Gift cards feel so impersonal but I also don’t really know what to get her.
