Same here a couple of coffee mugs and maybe a bowl. Nanny is not petty and washes the dishes when she’s doing hers and we are appreciative.

We only ever leave our breakfast dishes in the sink.

We try to keep the kitchen tidy for our nanny (cleaner than we kept it for ourselves), but we have crazy jobs and sometimes a few dishes get left in the sink or we don’t have time to unload the washer. Our nanny helps out and I’m very appreciative.

^^ Job creep. But if you don't mind, I guess it buys you good will. Until you are no longer needed..

I do not expect my nanny to do our dishes but I am appreciative if she does. This has never become an expectation and she has been with us many years.

Not sure I understand. When we leave in the morning, the nanny is given a clean kitchen with an empty sink. When DH and I return in the evening we expect the nanny to give us a clean kitchen with an empty sink.

The nanny is only doing the dishes they use for themselves and the children.

I cannot function seeing dirty dishes, glasses, etc. in the kitchen sink.

Period.

It is not one of my job duties - but I always do the dishes in the sink.
(No pot scrubbing though!!)

Do it if you want, most will appreciate it. However, this WILL become an expectation and even if it's not written, a permanent part of your job. Also, beware of job creep.

I’ve worked for many families. Some will leave dishes and food in the sink, some will say (on their way out) “sorry about the kitchen, we will clean it when we get home, and then another family will stack all their dishes to the side if the dishwasher is full.

If I have time or feel like it, I will unload/load the dishwasher and they’ve been appreciative. If she was off and didn’t say thank you then there’s your answer about whether or not you should do it again.

My nanny families have never left me dishes in the morning.

I used to babysit for a family though a couple of evenings a week and they would always leave dishes in the sink. I used to leave them there. I felt like they felt dishes were beneath them and they left them for me to do. Nope. Im paid for childcare not cleaning up your dishes.

How else were you supposed to use the sink?

I WISH YOU WERE MY MB!! my mb NEVER even washes her own dishes. I’ve been with them since earlier this year and I’ve never seen her wash a dish.
