I agree with the posters who claim on day for their mental health day. I use Sunday as my day to be alone and quiet.

I do best in 24 hour positions, either 24/5 or 24/6. Because I know exactly what the expectations are and I know precisely when my downtime is, my body quickly falls into the routine. When working 24/6, I sleep most of my days off, with occasional errands thrown in. For 24/5, I sleep a bit each of my two days off, and I go out and about during the rest. The main thing for me is that I keep to the same bedtime/wake schedule and stay up at least 2 hours after wake up. Doing that, I can do an average of 5 hours per working night indefinitely, and when my positions end, I sleep 12 hours per night until my next position. Not much of a social life while working, but that’s fine with me.

Sunday is my day! I try not to speak all day. I start the morning with a long walk or hike and then come home and do a facial and long soak in the tub. Then I binge a Netflix or Hulu show and go to bed super early.

By Monday at 5AM I am excited to see my charge and jump right in.

Sounds sort of like me!
I think every hard-working Nanny needs to take a Mental Health Day for themselves at least 1x/wk.
A day where no cleaning, laundry, errands or shopping needs to be done.

Just a day where she can sleep in, lounge around the house + read/watch T.V., surf the net, etc.
ALL to her heart’s content.

Or just hang around in bed w/a great book!

I make a point on the weekends to get outside and hike in nature no matter what the weather. And I like to do it alone. Nothing makes me feel better or more energized!

I work long hours during the week and have been feeling burned out lately. I usually have one completely free day on weekends to refresh myself without any social or home obligations.

What do you do to rejuvenate?
