I got nothing after 7 years with a family. They were good to me financially in that they paid me FT even when the kids went to school but no extra effort whatsoever to make me feel appreciated.

You got notice so you are not entitled to severance. I am sorry you don’t feel appreciated. Please say nothing to your former employer - you will want to see the kids and you will need a good reference from her.

No, if your contract didn’t state that you get severance than you don’t. Notice is sufficient.
