The going rate for nanny shares on the Hill is $12-15.

OP, find out from friends what the going rate on CH is for a share and charge slightly more than half of that (since the family does not have to find or coordinate with a second family, but is nonetheless getting a 2:1 ratio). Guessing that's in the $13-$15 range right now.

$12 to $15 an hour. Plus bring all food and supplies for your own child.

Why? Makes zero sense.

You are bringing your kid which means their kid only gets half attention. $18-22 is a reasonable rate for one child without yours. If you want a full rate find child care for yours. They also have additional expenses in their home for your child.

Fine. When you have an additional child,
you DOUBLE my rates. Thank you!!

Go ahead and try that, PP.

Please tell these parents that you will not do the idiot box. Ever. That right there puts you ahead of the babysitter crowd.

Also remember you aren't the cleaning lady. If they get confused about that, they won't respect you as a professional nanny.

Good luck.

Nice diatribe. But how much should she charge?

I agree, charge like it’s a share. I’ve seen $10-15/h being most common for shares. I have seen on here the most common rate seems to be $12/h for a share

You charge as if in a share, OP.

Ok, I need help here. I have been a nanny for over 8 years, educated etc. I was with my last family for 4.5 years. I have 9 month old son I would bring to work. I found family with 2 month old boy. How much should I charge? It’s Capitol Hill location.
