Please. Calm down, Drama Queen! Ask that the shelf be raised and down allow your charge to run in the house. Problem solved

So kids only get hurt (in a house that’s not child proof) when they run?

For a three year old - yes. What OP described was wood furniture. At three if a kid does run or jump on the couch he won’t get hurt. People have furniture.

I think all of these changes will make YOUR job harder in the long run.

Talk to your employers & see if they can rectify the situation before it starts causing issues.

Nanny here with a nearly three-year-old charge whose family just moved into a new house. The designer the parents chose has no children, no knowledge of children and no desire to learn about children.

There is a piece of art hung so low that my charge can touch it. All of the new end tables and coffe tables except one are of heavy wood with sharp corners. If that isn’t enough, the decorator just put up one of those free floating LOW shelves with sharp edges over my charges play table! Come on!! For God’s sake, now I won’t be able to even make my charge’s dinner without constantly reminding her to watch her head at her play table!!! And the shelf is “decorative”.

I am going to calm down and point out the danger to my employer tonight. I cannot believe my employer gave free reign to this woman.
