Sometimes it takes awhile.
Prospective employers are probably hiring cheaper alternatives. A nanny with less experience or a day care.

How overweight are you?

Oh I’m sorry you’re having a hard time. You sound like the kind of nanny I would barb wanted 2 years ago. I interviewed all different kinds but definitely preferred the older professionals. Could also be your rate? See if you have more luck with an agency.

So sorry it’s taking so long OP!

But keep the faith!
I know - easier said than done.
But if you want to find that perfect position, then you simply cannot give up.

Sure, some families may pre-judge you based on your weight.
Or the color of your skin.
And if that is the case, you wouldn’t want to work for those types of families trust me.

I also think you should try registering w/a good agency in your area.

Good luck in your search!

I've had issues in the past finding live in positions. Once it took me six months. Sometimes it only takes a week. Thankfully I've always been in a position where I don't have to have a job but it can get super discouraging and stressful. My advice is to not give up. It only takes 1 person to say yes we want to hire you. When I'm in between jobs I try and work on myself.

Agree with pp. get an agency to help. Maybe there is something you’re saying in texts emails or in person. Maybe it’s your resume. Who knows could be anything. An agency will find the right fit.

Go to an agency. You are doing something wrong, OP. You should have parents knocking down your door. An agency would do the screening for you and also tell you what you are doing wrong in interviews.

I am having a super hard time securing a new nanny position. I am very qualified, college degree, 7 years of nannying experience, cpr and first aid certified, great references and reviews, and parents are showing interest in me but all it leads to is a lot of dead ends. Either families don't want to pay well, they see that I am a black overweight woman and decide not to hire based off their biases, or I am led to believe I am a fit, and then told they've hired someone new. I have been looking since February, and I've had no luck. I don't know what else to do. I love working with children, but I am not sure if I can keep going through these interviewing processes..
