No one makes that type of lean mean green unless they also are saddled w/domestic duties too.

A brand new Lexus.....??!!
Like the good ol’ Mary Kay pink Cadillac or the Arbonne white Mercedes, once the job ends you will have to hand in your keys too.

OP here and yes i agree with you. unless the car was paid in cash and given to me with MY name on it, then I wouldnt call it my car.

As you know, LA is pretty perfect except for the traffic.

To be honest, I wouldn’t mind the commute if I got paid more and had a better package. I make $17.50/h for 2 kids (preschooler and baby) and I only get paid holidays and 1 week paid vacation. Of course I care about my charges, but I would not stay just for them.

Unreal! You have a college degree in Los Angeles! You should be making $25 an hour for one kid!

Yes, give notice immediately! I am the PP above and I make $27 an hour with full medical insurance and a new Lexus for driving my charge and personal use. I am on the west side, which pays more than the Valley,

it took me a long time to find a job and this one offered me the most an hour, so I took it. not everyone is able to get jobs for $20 +.

Simply let the family know that you tried to make it work, but the new commute is just a pain!
Hopefully you are not so awesome that they will offer to pay you a higher salary or give you extra $$ for commute costs.
But even if they do, politely decline & just say the traffic is wearing you down daily.

Since you are giving them plenty of notice, I think things will end smoothly.

However, even though both parents telecommute, they may not be able to give you Fridays off early.
Not that they wouldn’t want to, but it might not be possible depending on the type of work they do.
They may be needed to do conference calls, etc.

Anyway good luck on this new life/career transition!

Op here
Thank you. Yes sometimes both parents Have scheduled calls. I think I’ll jaut schedule interviews on 1 day and just ask for that day off and stack the interviews

long story short, I moved and now my commute time has gone from 15 minutes to almost 1 hour. I live in Los Angeles, so traffic is my worst enemy. moving was unexpected due to some personal problems, but I will not be moving anytime soon (I've moved back in with my parents). I have been looking for another job since May (I graduated with my degree), but I haven't been able to find anything that meets my needs. in addition, I also was looking for a job because I feel like I'm a mismatch for the family. now, I feel like I can use the commute time as an "excuse." I'm planning to tell my MB today and giving her 2 months notice. I also work 9-6 everyday so I was planning on asking her to leave early on Fridays to be able to go to job interviews. since I work long days and never have a chance to leave early, its been next to impossible to interview. also, MB and DB work from home but are always busy so I don't know if they will accept me leaving early on Fridays. has anyone been in the same/similar situation? any advice would be appreciated.
