Subject: What should nanny do with my 1 year old?
Thete are a lot of actibities for his age. In the morning for example 15 minutes play in his room like pretending activities cooking, 15 minutes learning toddlers rymes and songs, 15 min crativity with blocks, 15 minutes coloring a page, 10 minutes cutting, gluing and pasting alphabet letters. 15 minut snack time. 15 minute walk , 15 minutes play ground, 15 minutes talk about nature, 15 minutes playing with ball, 10 minutes blowing bubbles, and thete are ton of easy and funactivities that a smart, active, energic nanny should do with a toddler.

When I walk my one yr. old charge, he is miserable.
Even at 8AM - it is already miserable.
His stroller has a large canopy so the sun is not in his eyes, nor anywhere on his body yet when I take him out of the stroller, his head + back (especially) are sweaty/sticky.
And the park by his house is usually empty since there is minimal shade & most of the play equipment is directly in the sun.
I would love to go places via my A/C ed vehicle.
Maybe an indoor mall w/a playground for kiddos.
Or an air conditioned local library.
Heck....
Even an air conditioned Starbucks or Subway.
But the parents are uncomfortable w/anyone but them transporting their child.
Already looking forward to October when it will cool off.

Parents need to put their child’s comfort/welfare above any illogical reservations that they may possess.

Toddlers don't need a bunch of classes and activities. You do them because you need to get out of the house or they seem fun. They aren't necessary. Lots of time exploring outdoors (weather permitting) and a story time or two is plenty.

Just the Park/playground is enough. My dd is 2.5 and they go to the park or other outdoor activity like water play etc every day in good weather for 2 hrs or more. Then lunch and then nap at 1. They also draw and sing and read stories. Hey do t need activities at this age. Some exposure to other kids but that’s about it. They should have a general schedule and be doing things like cleaning up together and helping and watching cooking and putting away laundry etc.

That sounds fine, OP. If you want to add the activities you have in mind, that's also fine. But what your nanny is doing now is perfect for a 15mo. Storytime would be a nice addition, as would something musical, but he'll get more out of those when he's a little older (unless your library has a specific baby class).

“Just the park” is okay for this age. I would revisit in a few months because a) around 18 months is when peers start to be more of a thing and b) she may not be going out as often right now because it is so darn hot!

it seems like he gets out a lot. maybe story time would be good and the other two things you mentioned might be more structured. it seems like your nanny might just need that push to take your son out. he's also getting social contact with other babies, which is good. don't worry too much op, my MB doesn't even let me leave the house.

Ok,so they go to the park everyday, and he has playdates with some of her nieces and nephews (also babies) a few times a week. Our library does Thursday morning storytime, and I was planning to ask her to take him there. It's been so hot lately, but in the spring they did lots of walking outside. Is that enough stuff? I was thinking of having her take him to the Busboys and Poets Monday morning music events. Maybe my expectations are wrong. He's my only and I work from home so I'm around, and he seems okay and happy, but I keep thinking there should be more.

Park in the AM. Library story times in afternoon noon maybe? I was a nanny to a 1 yo old and we’d usually go to the park right after breakfast. Then come and have nap, then lunch. Afterwards, we’d head out to library story time.

We have a lovely nanny who was great when ds was an infant, but he's 15 months now and I feel like they should be doing more iykwim. Can you give me some suggested schedules or activities for DS and nanny? He takes one long nap usually 11-1:30 And has lunch after, but he's starting to transition to sleep later in the day and have lunch first. Thanks!
