I don't think you know what pigtails are. Pigtails are braids...the elastic band is further, not closer to the hairline. Ponytails get the band closer to the hairline.

Pigtails aren't braids, unless they're braided pigtails. Pigtails are two ponytails on the head.
Note the word braided: pig·tail
?pi??t?l/Submit
noun
plural noun: pigtails
1.
a braid of hair hanging from the back of the head, or either of a pair at the sides.
"she had her hair done in pigtails"
2.
a short length of flexible braided wire connecting a stationary part to a moving part in an electrical device.

Nonsense! No one gets a headache from pigtails unless they are pulled unnaturally tight.

I REMEMBER my scalp hurting every time my mom did my hair in pigtails when I was little.

Then your mother was making them too tight.

I love pigtails on little girls! I like my kids to look neat and clean and hair all over the place doesn’t cut it for me. I wish our nanny was better about doing my girls’ hair!

If you don't let loose your hair from time to time, YES you can get a headache from pigtails or ponytail.

I prefer pigtails on little girls because the hair tie is closer to the hair line, so it gets a better grip on all the loose baby curls that otherwise fall out while they play.

Women wear ponytails throughout their whole lives. Most women only wear pigtails when they're little girls.THIS IS HER MOMENT.

Do it your way on the weekends, or get her ready before the nanny comes, if you care about variety. When my girls were younger, some of their nannies were more creative than I about hairstyles. I have to admit I learned a few things!

DD is 2.5 and has wavy/curly hair. Nanny said she likes DD to look neat. I appreciate that but why always pigtails? What is wrong with an occasional ponytail?

Is this something I can bring up with the nanny?
