Does anyone working in any field want to face a moody and rude boss/employer everyday?

What is with these people defending the terrible behavior of OP's MB?

"Occasionally" seeing a psychiatrist is not actually getting it addressed - and it isn't working! You don't even know what she is seeing the occasional psychiatrist for!! But your sympathy goes to this rude woman and not to her child or her employee who has to deal with that moodiness and rudeness five days a week.

You don't know that any of what you wrote is true. Lots of people see psychiatrists who are mean and nasty. She could just be a moody, spoiled b*tch. How totally naive of you to think that anyone who sees a psychiatrist is mentally ill!

Have you talked to DB and her parents about her getting help? It might not be your place to say anything, but she probably needs a lot of help. Is she ok meds or ever been in meds?

OP here. She sees a psychiatrist occasionally (her parents told me). And her parents have told me that they know how difficult she can be. I really don't feel comfortable asking more probing questions about possible medication or therapies nor do I know if she is or as have been on medication.

I just hate it when she is like this. So rude and mean.

So sorry, OP. I am an MB but had a very, very moody and mercurial boss a few years ago. I felt like I was constantly afraid to step into the office because I never knew which of her personalities would be there. I loathe moodiness - it is so selfish and self-centered. Anyway, I stopped trying to be cheerful when she was in her sullen phase and just reflected her mood back to her. If she didn't say hello, I didn't say hello. When I needed to ask her a question or relay information to her, I did it exactly like she would do it. Honestly, that seemed to snap her out of it.

Oh, PP, I do my job - my job is to take care of and teach my charge. My job is not to handle the insane moods of my one employer. She is a grown woman. I will complain about her all I like.

And duh - yeah, she has mental health issues!

My employer has to be the most moody person on earth! She goes through cycles of being kind and talkative and then smashes back into being sullen and giving me the silent treatment. Yesterday, she went back to her moody, sullen personality and didn't say hello or goodbye. She gave my charge a hug and let him tell her something and then went back into her room. Her husband relieved me.

Generally this crap goes on for a couple weeks. And I am so sick of it. I have been dealing with this woman's mood swings for three years.
