Don’t ask them IF you get your second week, ask them HOW they’d like to structure it since they won’t be traveling. They agreed to two weeks upon hiring and I’m sure they will honor that. No reason to assume they won’t.

In future use your head for something other than a hatrack! I can guarantee you that they are going to tell you that because they are not taking a vacation that you will only be allowed one week vacation.

In the future, create a contract so there is no confusion. Write an email or sit down and talk with them.
“As per our initial working agreement, I am to receive two weeks of vacation, one of your choosing and one of mine. Since you are not traveling this year, would you like to transfer the second week to one of my choosing or would you still prefer to choose the week?”
Other options are to pay out the additional week or to allow you to choose, but only using 2 consecutive days at most, so they aren’t scrambling for backup care and you have some long weekends to look forward to.

Does your contract state one week when they travel or one week their choice? Former, you’re sol, latter, just ask for them to choose a week and give you at least 2 months notice.

They'll stay home for that extra week and you'll be off.
Ask them to let you know in advance when that week off will be so you can plan your own down time

Yes, if your contract says two weeks, one of their choosing and one of yours, then you get both. I would just ask them when they'd like to take their week given that they won't be traveling.

I am working with a family almost two years. I have two weeks vacation ( one week my choice one week their choice whenever they travel)
This year they told me I can take my vacation whenever I want ( one week) but they are not traveling.
So I have only one vacation with my choice.
Do I have right to ask them for another week or not
