MB here. I understand how you feel about your nanny but consider waiting until the end of the year to give her a substantial monetary bonus, unless you feel that you are underpaying her. You are setting a precedent when you give out bonuses for performance. I would not concern myself with what she shares with the nannies or anyone else.

This isn't something I'd be likely to discuss...but then I'm a bit older than a lot of nannies, and I don't live in an area with lots of nannies.

You want your nanny to be happy and feel valued. That needs to be your only concern.

of course. the same way people do in every profession. asking employees not to discuss salary is illegal (not suggesting you'd do that).

Personally, I always discuss salary and other benefits with other nannies. I wouldn’t get jealous if another nanny got a bonus and i didn’t. I would be happy for them that their employer recognizes their hard work!

I adore my nanny, who has been with me a few months. I was thinking of giving her a $500 special bonus. I have friends in the neighborhood who also have nannies. How likely is it that my nanny will mention this to the other nannies? I don't want those nannies to feel jealous or resentful toward their own bosses. Just wondering how freely nannies discuss compensation. Thanks.
