At age 5, most kids are physically pretty independent and want more freedom. They can be a little obsessive about rules so ask about the rules in their house because kids at that age are very black and white thinkers (for example, if they usually watch tv for 30 minutes after dinner and you say no tv that day, a 5 year old will know the rule and that you are “wrong” be be very upset, but a younger kid doesn’t really remember the rule about tv so they can be distracted).
They like to play pretend games and board games usually. Most of them like to be with friends a lot at that age. They don’t take naps but they do sometimes need some quiet time in the afternoon, especially if they had school in the morning.
They usually are picky about food (and about how it is served, like they might only like an apple if you cut it a certain way), but they are more likely to try new things if you eat with them. They usually have a morning and afternoon snack if they are in school or daycare so it is a good idea to offer it at home too.
Op here thanks for helpful information
