I am planning to take a one month break with both at home full time while we solidify of their potty training skills (daycare not so good with the potty training) and give them a break before preschool. However I am wondering how to fill the day? Story time at the library is only 1 hour, and most half day summer camps are full by now, so how can I fill the day with two very active toddlers? we live in NW DC. What would a nanny do Thanks

Pay a nanny to find out!

Really?!! I will be happy to pay a nanny when i need one, not for one month when I am home and my kids will start preschool soon, maybe you can just be nice for free?

Everyone else thanks for your advice.

A schedule with a nanny is NOT the same as a schedule with a Sahm. Please redirect your question to the general parenting (0-4 yr) forum.

Dd is almost 2.5 (with a nanny) and is outside on non rainy days from 9-11:30. Coupe playgrounds and a creek by our house so they go and play in the shade or sun depending on weather. She’s made some friends with the same schedules and they take a little potty with them and she goes every 1.5 hrs since she can’t hold it longer. Quiet okay while lunch is made, lunch and nap. Nap is 2-2.5 hrs so she’s up around 3:30 and then it’s playing with toys or dance party or a little indoor slide or more outside time in the back yard until parents come home

1. After breakfast take a walk or go to the park
2. Take a walk around 10 and put them to bed till 11 or 111:30
3. Lunch
4. Read books after lunch
5. Quiet time for you and the kids; teach them to be in their own room or do something
6. Take a walk again or go to the park
7. Go home and prepare dinner; give them something to do
* you could do laundr/ eat in between their naps
* by this age you should have noticed their pattern of potty or bring them to the bathroom same time each day
* you can alternate days to either museums, zoo, library, music time or run errands

Best, a nanny

Playgrounds and playdates. Set a easy schedule and close to home to facilitate potty training. Art projects outside, finger paints, reading time, music time, etc. Outings early in the day. A blow up backyard pool.

I have a playgroup that comes over every week and we do a lot of sensory play in shaving cream, water beads, bean bins... The kids love it.

Find all the local playgrounds, plus a few indoor play places. Plan to do park or playplace most days and do something big like the zoo or a museum once or twice a week.
Get them up and out the door early to enjoy playing outdoors before it warms up, back for lunch, naptime, in the afternoon do an art project inside and then go for a walk before dinner.
