Do you work, OP? Do you know other mothers who work? What a bizarre concern. I would understand if this was a full time nanny, but a sitter?

Why would you not ask her to baby sit again just because she has children? That doesn’t make any sense at all. It seems to me that you need an occasional date night sitter. Her having kids should not weigh in on whether or not you ask her to babysit. She’s looking to work and possibly make some extra income - obviously if she only wanted to spend time with her kids she’s prob not babysit.
If you’re looking for a full time don’t hire a nanny who has young children.

We have a babysitter who has a kid of her own. I don't feel bad--she's babysitting because she needs the money, after all, and she's already made the calculation that the time away from her kid is worth it to her, and her child is cared for by other family members when she's babysitting for us.

I also rather have babysitters / nannies without young kids. Our nanny is in her 50s with grown children. My sister has a nanny with a young son and she says it impacts them pretty often as far as the nanny calling ( if her son is sick etc). I would also feel kind of bad that she is leaving her own son to watch my kids....

Responded to a babysitter add on Nextdoor page and asked if we could meet before hand. She appeared young(college age) but well qualified, lots of experience, references love her. I was telling her something about my 4yr old, and she laughed and said she had a 4yr old as well. Apparently she has 2 kids. Immediately I just felt guilty for taking her away from her own family. Is it bad that i would rather have a babysitter who didn’t have kids of her own? We plan on using her for the date we originally agreed on but I can’t see myself asking her again:
