Does your infant nap well in a stroller, car seat (that can be uncoupled and carried) or with nanny babywearing? If so, same schedule. If not, then see about shifting classes around to accommodate toddler’s need for exercise and st while still allowing as much time for infant’s nap as possible.

Frankly, this is one of the (many) reasons I really, really don’t like when a parent is home. It sounds like you spent the last four months keeping the infant home while toddler kept her normal schedule with the nanny, rather than easing the infant into the schedule slowly, so that nanny had a chance to tweak the schedule before now. At this point, nanny should have both kids most of the day, and you should be confident that she can handle the day-to-day schedule and deal with emergencies. She sounds like she has experience with 2+, and she offered at least two options for dealing with it. No, you don’t pull a child out of classes every morning just because there’s now an infant to tag along.

For us, our DS napped fine in a stroller, so it was actually great when DD's morning activities coincided with his morning nap.

For us naps take priority, or the night sleeping can suffer and keep you up.

Apologies for the newbie question in advance, but would love to hear how other parents/nannies are structuring two different schedules for a toddler and infant. I'm returning to work in two weeks from mat leave, and I have a 2.5 year old and a 4 MO. We currently have my DD2.5 in morning activities M-F, ranging from gymnastics to speech therapy for 1-1.5 hours max per morning. I would love to keep her in these activities until she starts preschool in 6 months, but I don't want to make things super hectic on our nanny and ruin my infant DD's morning nap by requesting my nanny tote her around to everything. I want to make sure my toddler gets some exercise every morning, but I'm not sure how to accomplish that without interfering with the 4MO's morning naps. I've spoken to our nanny about it, and she mentioned that 4MO may need to nap "on the go" or take a shorter nap in the morning and take a longer nap in the afternoon. For any MBs or nannies that have dealt with this, did you scale back on morning activities (or find stuff like the park that didn't require a set beginning and end time) or just keep things as they are? My nanny feels comfortable managing it but just wanted to hear from other folks on what worked well/what didn't if you were in this position. Perhaps I'm over-thinking it? Thanks in advance!
