Hello! Our family is currently looking for a replacement for our current live in nanny who is now moving on with her career. The position would start as early as May 1st. We are located...

This is an unpaid position. But offers a fully furnished room with free WiFi and free rent in exchange for an average of 10-20 hours a week of childcare. Bathroom is shared with the kids. And obviously free use of the rest of the house. The hours are flexible but mostly needed weekdays after 5pm for meetings and dates. And a Saturday here and there. Mostly to put the kids to bed or take them to the park down the street. So a girl who has school or a daytime job is perfect. We have three children currently a boy who is 5, two girls 4 and 2. All are potty trained and really independent. They look out for each other and are best friends, although they also fight over stuff consistently. I am a stay at home mom and the kids are all currently homeschooled. We are also expecting our 4th child in July, another girl! So we are looking for an experienced nanny who can handle 3 toddlers and a baby. Also someone who is willing to stay for with us a minimum of 6 months. Position requirements: female only, must have car, Christian by faith, living a clean sober life style and fits in our family dynamic. We would love to get to know you & see if it’s a match.

Only a student who is willing to give up get whole weekend and evening schedule to be on call would work...

If it includes food, 10 hours a week on a specific schedule would be reasonable but not to leave all 4 kids, including a newborn with her.

He was studying psychology at AU and needed a place to live. He lived with a family for free room and board in exchange for after school care 4 days a week for school age kids. It worked for them, but wasnt a FT gig.

That’s not 5 nights and weekends though!

I’ve had a family contact me wanting someone with a Masters in Education, fluency in French, Spanish or Mandasin but native language has to be English or French. They wanted a tutor, errand boy, chauffeur, housekeeper and personal manager for a whopping $16 an hour.

Exactly! It’s like room and board for about 8 hours a day, only on weekdays. So what they want is a nanny or babysitter to work a shift free of charge and then screw off in the evenings and on weekends somehow.

It’s hilarious because they not only want her to disappear on the weekends, but also in the evenings as well.
They want childcare in exchange for room and board, but the childcare provider would be literally unwelcome during the evenings and weekends. So basically only during the week, during working hours.
Like, just HIRE and PAY a regular babysitter or nanny??? If you couldn’t afford any form of childcare wtfh did you reproduce???

Couldn’t agree more!!!

Can we just put all the ridiculous postings of positions into one hilarious thread? We should do that.

I never argue this crap either. Or argue with the posters who think you can get a great nanny for $15 an hour. They will all find out the truth soon enough.

Hello. We currently have 11month old boy and girl twins. We both work full-time and looking for someone to take care of our babies Monday through Fridays from 7am-4pm in exchange with room and board. I am a teacher so I have weekends, holiday breaks and summers off. There are no other housekeeping responsibilities. Taking care of the babies while we are at work is what we need! Starting time would be in late August 2018. We are looking for someone who might go to school at night and can go spend time somewhere else on the weekends. Please let me know if you would like to communicate with us about it! Thank you!

Not only are they not planning on paying anyone, they want 2 years experience and they want the nanny to disappear on the weekends. If you can't stay all week, then room is not a perk!
