I echo the "ask your nanny". She may have hidden talents that you don't know about. She also might not be interested in staying on if she loves working with babies and young children.

Are you planning or trying to have more children, OP?

Ask the nanny - of course. My brother's children have had the same nanny for 13 years. When the youngest started school, the nanny began working 1PM to 7PM and took over all grocery shopping and ordering for the house. She handled cooking for the kids and continued to do their laundry, shopping (school supplies and special projects) as well as straightened their rooms. She always was set to babysit every Saturday night so he and his wife could have a scheduled date night. Their nanny also picks the kids up at school, drives them to extra-curricular activities and music lesson as well as playdates and is always available for full days when the kids are sick or have doctor's appointments as well as holidays and summers.

You should not ask her to do anything extra.

I am a nanny and I could not disagree with that more! Of course any nanny will assume more/different responsibilities when the child is in school. I echo that OP should talk to the nanny and ask her what she could and would like to do. And, of course, if she is interested in staying on.

ASK YOUR NANNY. Not us. It would be appropriate to ask your nanny if she is even interested in staying with you after your child starts school. Then, ask her what additional duties she would like to take on.

- car maintenance
- washing bath towels for family
- buying household items as well as kid items either in store or online (basically general errands as pp mentioned)

I would not ask her to do your personal laundry or bedding, nor would I ask for yard work or deep cleaning.

You’d have to talk with her to see what she’s comfortable with of course, but:
-grocery shopping/meal prep
-dry cleaning drop off/pick up
-organizing toys
-sorting through clothes
-kids laundry
-basic errands — paper towels, toilet paper, school supplies

I am considering asking if my nanny would like to stay FT with us when our daughter starts school in the fall (8a-3pm). What tasks would be appropriate to suggest we add to her work scope? I am not concerned with filling every single second of the day but on days where she is in school it would be nice to have some more help around the house.
