The kids enjoyed watching the trucks for a little while, but the open doors and people coming in and out made me nervous, so I sent them away. We lived on a fairly busy street, and I was worried one of them would go out the door into the street.

In the end, she stayed through dinner time, and my parents tipped her an extra $100. Don't ask me why! My dad just does things like that.

My charge was about the same age when the family moved into a bigger house. Even though the parents hired movers, my charge and I got boxes and tape and packed a lot of her toys and then unpacked them at the new house. This helped her (I think). I also always spoke happily and excitedly about the move. The actual moving day is rough! Pack lunch and snacks.

My charge and her family are moving across town (about the same distance for me - just in the other direction). My charge is 2.5 and we have a nice routine with friends, great classes and playgroups here. I would like to make this move as easy as possible for her and my employers (I also manage the house). My charge will be starting a three-day-a-week preschool in the fall and we will be doing a two day a week program at her new school where I will stay with her for the summer.

Any suggestions on how to handle this move the best way possible would be appreciated. Thanks!
