Correct it for the future; there's not much else you can do for now except figure out a way to pay it off.
Did your employer withhold ANY state or local taxes? If not, you need to figure out how much to set aside each week and send in a check once each quarter.
Op here, my employer withheld only ( FICA taxes)
Yes , I agree with all posts who blame me. It’s my mistake.
I was working as private contractor and used to do 1099.
It’s fist time I am dealing with w/2.

I have spent a lot of time trying to explain how taxes work to her, providing her contacts of people who can help in her native language, explained how to fill out a w-4 etc. we use a payroll service so provide very accurate pay stubs, withhold state and federal on her behalf etc. and she still had problems this year and was shocked when she owed a bit of money.
I’m sure anyone can go online and read how the tax system works in any language or find a resource. Why are these nannies not taking responsibility to educate themselves!!?? I just find it so unprofessional.
+1. Nanny here and I agree with this MB. MB/DB are employers, not your parents. As an adult you should know what will happen with filling taxes. If you don’t, educate yourself. Where I live ( IL) I fill out what I want my employers to deduct ( i can choose which party will report federal and state taxes). It’s on me if something isn’t filed correctly. If a nanny wants to be treated like a mature porgies soon all, they need to start acting like one.
