OP, agreed that one rate is going to be much easier to manage. It will come down to whether someone is willing to take on the job for the single rate that would make sense, though. I would calculate it based on guaranteed hours with various numbers of kids (e.g., 15 hours/week with three kids, 25 hours/week with one kid). If, say, you live somewhere where the going rate is $17/one kid or $25/three kids, then that would give you a rate of $20/hour. I'd handle the days off separately (though list that rate in the contract too--e.g., for days where all three children are present all day, there will be an additional $5 per hour paid). Adjust for whatever the going rates are where you are.
