I don’t think my boss parents give a damn. They say the craziest things in front of my charges. The other day during lunch mb starts discussing a former colleague of dbs that married a porn star, another that sells marijuana and one of her old friends that became a lesbian. My oldest knows how to make a margarita, my youngest constantly points out “wine!” And used to simulate sex on his stuffed animals with many positions that could’ve only been picked up on from watching them. Db also calls the kids jerks when they misbehave and act rude. Woo so much. I’m always covering my charges ears when conversing with their parents because they don’t use a filter at all. It use to irritate me but now I just have to laugh. They want me to go on vacation with them in a few months so I’m sure I’ll come back with tons of stories for you guys lmao

THIS- and at least try to conceal it in front of the kids. They are like sponges, and YES, we hear everything about your family dynamics.

Nanny here. I've been told many things by the kids but I never ever reapeated them to the parents if at some point it was going to upset them in any way. That's called being professional. OP, you sound nosey.

Nanny here. Yes, with little kids, they will tell you everything, especially around age 4-5-6.

I am Grandma aged. Back in my "mom days" I was a girl scout leader. When the girls were 1st and 2nd graders (a very talkative age), somehow they got to talking about webbed toes during our girl scout meeting. I was surprised how many of the girls had relatives with webbed toes.

I'd be pissed off if you told my child talking about beer is inappropriate. We can talk about alcohol.

Nanny here- I call troll on this. As a former Kindergarten teacher, many of my students would tell me horror stories about their parents. A lot of the times, I would hear beer stories, wine stories, as OP said. I always approached it as "we need for focus back on our alphabet trays" or if they really kept it up, I would pull them aside individually and address the issue. There's a time and place for alcohol discussion, but not at school or with their sitter, and it's not a commonplace discussion for children.

It's inappropriate when I'm there, sorry you feel that way, but I don't think alcohol is a hot topic for a five year old, with their NANNY. Go ahead and raise your future alcoholics MB!

But it's also no secret because they have a ton of it sitting out, and stickers/pictures of beer related things about the house and garage.

I would keep my lips sealed.

No need to deeply embarrass the parents.

If they knew, they would be MORTIFIED.

Purely....

Remember its all relative. A lot could be 2-3 beers vs. 6-8 you are picturing. Kids exaggerate.

Do NOT tell the parents about the child's comments! It will embarrass them and they will punish you for it. Trust me - I made this mistake. My older charge was getting ready for his interview for a private preK and two days before we were driving in the car and out of the blue he said, "My Mom and Dad fight all the time - Dad yells." I made the mistake of mentioning his comment to my MB... I was punished in one way or another for weeks afterwards. Cold shoulder, rude, picking on the smallest mistake...

DO NOT TELL HIS PARENTS.

As a nanny, my charges have told me some nitty gritty personal things about their parents. I mean some really... funny.... things.
The second day I started, my oldest charge (4) proceeded to tell me his daddy had a big bump on his p***s, and had to go to the doctor. Could barely look DB in the face when he got home.
Yesterday, he told me "My dad drinks ALOT of beer, but not enough to turn yellow like Joe's dad (Joe being a fellow classmate). I mean my dad drinks beer after beer after beer but doesn't forget to drink water."
These are big corporate people, and as hilarious as it is, I kept a straight face and am thinking about telling MB/DB about the alcohol thing just because I don't want their children saying it at school around other kids, or for a teacher to misconceive it.
What are some funny things your charges have shared with you? lol. Also, any ideas on how and if I should address this. I might just keep my mouth shut.
